A Leadership Certificate for Latina Catholics in Extension Dioceses
This leadership certificate program at the University of Dayton is intended for Latina lay leaders in the Church who participated in the 2022 Mujer Valiente Conference, but have not started or completed higher education, who wish to further their personal and ministerial development. The one-year program is in Spanish.
Catholic Extension Society, in conjunction with the University of Dayton’s Comunidad Virtual de Aprendizaje para la Formacion en la Fe, is offering students from Extension Dioceses the Mujer Valiente Leadership Certificate. Each student will complete 10.5 hours of education and grow as a leader and transformative agent of change in her parish and/or diocese. Those who complete this leadership certificate can potentially apply their credit hours toward a future B.A. or M.A degree program at an ATS-accredited school of theology, should they wish to continue their education.
The program will take one year to complete and will result in a Mujer Valiente leadership certificate. Students who are accepted through Catholic Extension Society’s application process will then be given approval to move forward with the University of Dayton student application process.
Duration: 1 year. Spring and Fall online classes plus an in-person empowerment gathering and graduation in the Winter. (No summer semester.). Program orientation on November 17, 2022 via Zoom. Classes will begin in January 2023.
Value to Participating Student: $1,500
*While this is a distance learning program, we recommend that the student is on-site for the end of program empowerment gathering and graduation in the winter. If this requirement presents a problem, please contact Veronica Avila at Catholic Extension Society after submitting your application.

Each application form will require the following attachments:
- Signed Bishops Endorsement Letter
- Partnership Agreement Signed by all parties (Student, Diocesan Representative, Mentor)
- Signed Scholarship Attestation Form
- Photo of COVID-19 Vaccination card
