In addition to standard funding applications and our Strategic Initiaties, Catholic Extension Society also offers a few additional special opportunities for funding:

Lumen Christi Award

The Lumen Christi Award is an annual award presented by Catholic Extension Society to a woman religious, priest or lay person who has demonstrated how the power of faith can transform lives and communities. ICSC Scholarships

The Interational Catholic Stewardship Council’s annual conference is a valuable opportunity for diocesan stewardship and development staff to attend workshops, gain skills, and network with representatives from other dioceses to discuss best practices. If attendance at the ICSC conference would be prohibited by the diocese because of a lack of funding, Catholic Extension Society is willing to offer one scholarship annually for a diocesan level staff member (such as a Diocesan Director of Development) to attend ICSC.  For more information, please click here.

DFMC Scholarships

The Diocesan Fiscal Management Conference is a valuable opportunity for diocesan finance directors to attend workshops, gain skills, and network with representatives from other dioceses to discuss best practices.  If attendance at the DFMC for your diocese would be prohibited because of a lack of funding, Catholic Extension Society is willing to offer one scholarship annually for a diocesan level staff member (such as the CFO) to attend. Masters Degree Scholarships for Hispanic Sisters

Catholic Extension Society is pleased to offer the opportunity for Hispanic women religious to participate in a Masters Degree program beginning in Fall 2022. This scholarship covers tuition to attend courses online and in person through a partnership with St. Mary’s University of Minnesota. Sisters who apply and qualify will earn a master’s degree in Integrated Studies with a concentration in Human Services and Pastoral Care. Courses are offered in Spanish. Holy Family Project

The Holy Family Project provides $10,000 – $15,000 in funding to religious sisters serving in Extension Dioceses who work directly with immigrant families. This special program is made possible by the Sisters of the Holy Family. For more information, please click here.

Francis Grants

Francis Grants are special funding opportunities to assist a diocese in special monumental events such as the ordination of a new Bishop, a special diocesan anniversary, or a visit from the Pope.  Francis Grants can also be requested to assist with the personal continued education of a diocese’s Bishop.  This funding is named in honor of Catholic Extension Society’s founder, Francis Clement Kelly, our former Chancellor Francis Cardinal George OMI, and Pope Francis.  To begin the application process for a Francis Grant for your diocese, please click here.
