Other Funding Opportunities

In addition to standard grant applications and our Strategic Initiaties, Catholic Extension also offers a few additional special opportunities for funding:

Lumen Christi Award

The Lumen Christi Award is an annual award presented by Catholic Extension to a woman religious, priest or lay person who has demonstrated how the power of faith can transform lives and communities. For more information about the Lumen Christi Award and to begin the nomination process please click here.

ICSC Scholarships

The Interational Catholic Stewardship Council’s annual conference is a valuable opportunity for diocesan stewardship and development staff to attend workshops, gain skills, and network with representatives from other dioceses to discuss best practices. If attendance at the ICSC conference would be prohibited by the diocese because of a lack of funding, Catholic Extension is willing to offer one scholarship annually for a diocesan level staff member (such as a Diocesan Director of Development) to attend ICSC.  For more information, please click here.

DFMC Scholarships

The Diocesan Fiscal Management Conference is a valuable opportunity for diocesan finance directors to attend workshops, gain skills, and network with representatives from other dioceses to discuss best practices.  Scholarships for Extension dioceses to attend the 2020 DFMC will be managed through the DFMC office this year. For more information about the conference, registration, and instructions on how to apply for this Extension diocese scholarship, please contact the DFMC office directly.

Francis Grants

Francis grants are special funding opportunities to assist a diocese in special monumental events such as the ordination of a new Bishop, a special diocesan anniversary, or a visit from the Pope.  Francis grants can also be requested to assist with the personal continued education of a diocese’s Bishop.  These grants are named in honor of Catholic Extension’s founder, Francis Clement Kelly, our former Chancellor Francis Cardinal George OMI, and Pope Francis.  To begin the application process for a Francis Grant for your diocese, please click here.
