The purpose of this initiative is to give pastors in your diocese the practical tools necessary to lead with excellence and confidence.

Leadership formation programs help priests succeed as both spiritual and administrative leaders for their parishes and the people they serve.

Catholic Extension Society has partnered with Catholic Leadership Institute (CLI) to offer its leadership formation program entitled Good Leaders, Good Shepherds — a two-year leadership course for diocesan priests. The agreement covers 65 percent of the cost of this program.  

This course is designed to equip pastors or those preparing to be pastors with the skills needed to succeed as both pastoral and administrative leaders of their parishes. The program also encourages greater fraternity among participating priests and their bishop. 

Courses are offered by CLI’s traveling instructors at a mutually agreed location and time.

As part of this agreement, dioceses also can elect to participate in CLI’s Strategic Visioning and Planning Consultation over a period of six to 10 months. This visioning process is designed to help dioceses articulate pastoral priorities and practical plans of action.

Duration: 2 years
Value to Participating Diocese: $165,000 (per cohort of 24 priests)
