Currently accepting microgrant proposals!
Catholic Extension Society recognizes that rural churches play a vital role in their communities. By providing microgrants for projects that address key needs, we aim to help rural churches expand their footprint in ministry both within their parishes and outside their walls.
We invite leaders to submit projects for microgrant funding between $1,000 – $5,000.
To address some of the key challenges and opportunities faced by rural communities, we ask that proposed projects focus on one of the four major rural areas. If your project is strongly aligned with any of the goals below, we encourage you to apply for a microgrant!
- Goal 1: Expand and create new ministries that engage, serve, and create more leadership and ministry opportunities for young people in rural communities.
- Goal 2: Expand and create new ministries that respond to the changing demographics of some rural communities by adapting to and reflecting the cultures of the people.
- Goal 3: Expand outreach ministries that deepen the rural church’s role in their local community, particularly their pastoral and social care of those on the margins.
- Goal 4: Expand capacity-building programs that promote financial sustainability and the long-term economic health of rural faith communities.
Who is eligible to apply?
- Microgrants are available to individual leaders (both laity and clergy) who seek funds for a project that focuses on at least one of the aforementioned areas (see above, goals 1 – 4).
- Must serve rural communities in a Catholic Extension Society supported diocese See map of eligible dioceses here Where We Help – Catholic Extension Society.
