Join us for an evening of fun and philanthropy featuring live music, delicious hors-d’oeuvres and adult beverages. Your participation will support musical instruments for migrant farm workers to enrich their difficult lives with the sound of music, and other ministries in the Diocese of Yakima. The inaugural event will take place at the Chop Shop Chicago, located at 2033 North Avenue, Chicago, IL on October 24, 2024, from 7:00 to 10:00 pm.
The Young Leaders Committee is a group of passionate and philanthropic young professionals in Chicago who fundraise and network to help further the mission of Catholic Extension Society. Catholic Extension Society’s mission is to work in solidarity with people to build up vibrant and transformative Catholic faith communities among the poor in the poorest regions of America.

Project of support
Diocese of Yakima, Washington Music Program
Your participation will support music programs for seasonal migrant farm workers including one focused on young men—primarily teenagers—who travel alone to earn money for their families. These workers endure long days in the fields, often spending months separated from loved ones. The music program, which runs through the end of the harvest season in November, provides them with a creative outlet and a sense of community, offering solace through the joy of music. For these young men, the opportunity to learn an instrument and play music together is a lifeline during the long months away from home.
Currently, the program operates with only five donated guitars, leaving many eager participants without the chance to join. With your support, the Catholic Extension Society Young Leaders Committee can help provide additional guitars to meet the growing demand, allowing more young men to enrich their lives through music. Your participation in this event will directly impact these migrant workers, offering them a creative outlet and a sense of connection and other programs in the Diocese of Yakima.
