Catholic Extension Society is excited to offer a special challenge grant fundraising opportunity for church groups from disadvantaged communities and/or extreme economic distress to be able to attend World Youth Day in Lisbon, Portugal, from August 1-6, 2023.
World Youth Day, held every 3-4 years, brings together millions of young people to celebrate their faith and sense of belonging to the Church. With young people as its protagonists, World Youth Day also seeks to promote peace, unity and fraternity among peoples and nations around the world.
This 2023 World Youth Day funding opportunity is offered as a matching grant, offering $1 matched on every $4 raised up to a maximum of $1,000 granted on $4,000 raised to support the costs of registration, travel, and accommodations.
To qualify for this matching funding, the requesting church group must come from a disadvantaged and/or economically challenged community within an Extension Diocese. More than one church group per Extension Diocese can request assistance, but each group must submit a separate individual application. In order to qualify for the matching grant, funds must be raised by the deadline of June 30, 2023.
