On February 15, 2024, Catholic Extension Society honored Sr. Jane Meyer, O.P. at the River Oaks Country Club in Houston, TX.
Sister Jane Meyer, O.P. served as Head of School at St. Agnes Academy from 1997 until her retirement in June 2022. Her commitment to education and promotion of the Catholic values of truth and social justice in the Houston area span decades.
Sr. Jane’s legacy at both Kelly High School in Beaumont and St. Agnes Academy demonstrate her consistent commitment to serving others. She has instilled the Catholic message of service to the poor and marginalized in generations of women by example and through her guidance.
Her tireless efforts to educate women and to advocate for the poor and marginalized around the globe have made her the recipient of numerous local and national awards, such as the NCEA Catholic Secondary Education Award, the Free Market Foundation Leader of Excellence Award, and the St. Anne’s Distinguished Alumna Award.
The Spirit of Francis Award
The Catholic Extension Society Spirit of Francis Award recognizes an individual or group who has made a significant impact on the mission of the Catholic Church in America through service or philanthropy. Spirit of Francis Award recipients are laudable for their commitment “to reach out to the margins of society” in the spirit of St. Francis of Assisi, Pope Francis, and the founder of Catholic Extension, Father Francis Clement Kelley.
Proceeds from this Spirit of Francis Award Dinner will benefit Catholic Extension Society’s work in Texas.
