IN THESE CHALLENGING TIMES, as we all are facing the
trauma and division of the COVID-19 pandemic, Catholic
Extension remains resolute in our mission to working in sol-

idarity with people in America’s poorest regions to build up
vibrant and transformative faith communities.
In this special COVID-19 edition of Extension, we are
bringing to you the compelling stories of the singularly
important role of faith in the forgotten, poor, isolated

underserved and under-resourced faithful in the Extension
Dioceses. These are stories of people on the frontlines who
are making enormous differences in the lives of those who
they courageously serve bringing empathy to places where
empathy is so desperately needed.
Additionally, as represented on our cover, the stories

describe the role of technology in enabling communities
of faith to remain connected though social distancing. As
we face these extraordinary times, one thing is certain—in
solidarity, we are all in this together.
