Thanks to the participation of thousands of Catholics around the country, our Flat Francis social media campaign to welcome Pope Francis to the United States was an inspiring success. More than 5,000 photos were posted on social media and sent to us, representing all 50 states and including photos with nearly 60 bishops and a few celebrities. The campaign took an even more exciting turn when Pope Francis himself encountered Flat Francis in Rome and expressed his approval with a hearty belly laugh at the cartoon image.

Now that the campaign has come to a close, we created a photo mosaic using the images we received and compiled a photo album of representative Flat Francis photos to give to Pope Francis. We recently delivered the mosaic and album to Cardinal Pietro Parolin, secretary of state of the Vatican in Rome, who said he would pass them along to Pope Francis on our behalf. Click through the images in the gallery to see the mosaic image as well as the presentation to Cardinal Parolin.

Thank you for participating in the Flat Francis campaign and helping us to show Pope Francis the diversity, vitality and deep faith of Catholics in the United States.
