The goal of this initiative is to help mission dioceses enhance their online fundraising abilities by participating in the national #iGiveCatholic campaign.

Catholic Extension sees the national #IGiveCatholic campaign as an opportunity for dioceses, parishes, and schools to each raise funds for specific projects in their diocese. 2018 will be the fourth Giving Day and the growth in funds raised has expanded and grown each year. This initiative will require the diocese to commit to promote the program to all the parishes and schools in the diocese that want to participate and use the tools/materials provided by #iGiveCatholic in that process.

Catholic Extension will accept applications from dioceses that have not participated in the program and dioceses that have participated in the program. A preference will be given to dioceses that have not previously participated. We will be awarding fifteen (15) grants for the 2018 campaign.  If selected, the diocese will receive a $1,000 discounted rate from #iGiveCatholic, and a $1,000 grant from Catholic Extension toward the remaining fees.

About the #iGiveCatholic Giving Day (the following material is provided by #iGiveCatholic)

Celebrated annually on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving, Black Friday, and Cyber Monday, #iGiveCatholic is an online giving day that kicks off the charitable season and invites the Catholic community to come together to give thanks and give back. Declared “the most successful Catholic crowdfunding event to date” by the National Catholic Register, the #iGiveCatholic Giving Day rallies our sisters and brothers in celebration of our unique Catholic heritage by raising awareness of and support for participating archdioceses’ and dioceses’ charitable, educational, and spiritual ministries. We will celebrate our fourth-annual day of Catholic giving on Tuesday, November 27, 2018, also known as #GivingTuesday, a global day devoted to giving.

In 2017, the third year of the campaign raised more than $3.6 million nationwide for 600+ participating parishes, schools, and nonprofits representing 17 archdioceses and dioceses. The total number of online contributions was more than 13,000–gifts came from 29 states beyond the states represented by the participating archdioceses and dioceses, as well as six countries, including Afghanistan, Great Britain, Philippines, Puerto Rico, Honduras and Canada.

Total value of this Initiative per Diocese: $2,000
