Since 2006, Catholic Extension has partnered with the Archdiocese for the Military Services, USA, to help provide pastoral care to 1.8 million Catholics who are part of the military.
Catholic Extension has provided more than $1.2 million to support various initiatives in the archdiocese, including its co-sponsored seminarian program. With a severe shortage of Catholic chaplains in the military today, the program recruits men to live out this vocation within a vocation by serving military personnel as chaplains. In 2014-2015, we helped support the education of 28 seminarians.
Jay Horning is a second-year seminarian studying theology who will eventually serve as an Army chaplain. Watch the video to meet Jay and learn more about our support.
