Weekly Meditation

As we continue our Lenten lifestyle preparing
for the joy and promise of Easter, the Church
today bids us celebrate the Solemnity of the
Annunciation of the Lord. "God so loved the
world that he gave his only Son" (Jn 3:16)
who "loved us and handed himself over for us..." (Eph 5:2)

We are challenged to respond to God's loving
offer of a Savior in the spirit of the faith,
generosity and commitment so clear in Mary's
response to God's request of her: "Behold,
I am the handmaid of the Lord. May it be done
to me according to your word." (Luke 1:38)

As disciples of Jesus Christ we believe in
God's love for us, we strive to imitate the
generosity of our Savior and prepare these last
few days of Lent to deepen our commitment to His
way of life as we joyfully renew our own baptismal
promises at Easter.
