As we move through these next six weeks preparing for the presidential election we do well to reflect on our responsibilities as citizens of our country. Use these quotes from "FORMING CONSCIENCES for FAITHFUL CITIZENSHIP: A Call to Political Responsibility from the Catholic Bishops of the United States" to help guide us in forming a correct conscience.

The only one held in North America was in Denver in 1993. I was privileged to participate accompanying youth from the Diocese of Jackson. Some of the words in his homily still challenge all of us today.

This year it is from Bishop William F. Murphy of Rockville Center, Chairman of the Committee on Domestic Justice and Human Development. I share a few excerpts with the hope that many will see the entire statement at www.usccb.org.
