Tomorrow we celebrate the Memorial of St. Martha. She, along with her sister, Mary and their brother, Lazarus were friends of Jesus. Tradition tells us that Jesus was accustomed to spend time as a welcomed guest in their home in Bethany outside the city of Jerusalem.

Blessed Kateri was known for a loving devotion to the Holy Eucharist and, in imitation of Jesus, a genuine concern for others. She died on April 17, 1680, as a young woman.

Hopefully also we have included some true awareness, recognition and gratitude for God's blessings on us and our country and a genuine "salute" of renewed commitment to live this reality of freedom as mature, thinking and grateful people.
