March 2008 Monthly Newsletter
The word "sacrifice" crops up in almost any conversation with seminarians. They're grateful for the generosity of all those who helped in their formation along the way. Especially in rural areas, young men studying for the priesthood are humbled by the sacrifice of others who have made their studies possible.
Catholic Extension provides assistance to 40 mission dioceses (more than 400 seminarians!) to help train their future priests, including Philip Zubrod, studying for the Diocese of Fargo in North Dakota.
Here's what Philip has to say:
"I am thankful for the sacrifices [my family] made to send me and my siblings to a Catholic school, which gave me such a great foundation of faith . . . Without support from Catholic Extension, it would be difficult to keep our seminary open. This early connection to my diocese has helped foster in me the compassion and heart of a pastor."
The cost of seminary studies keeps rising, but dioceses will always find a way to keep worthy candidates - with your help. Your secure donation will aid the hundreds of men who are now on the holy path to the
priesthood in America's mission dioceses. Thank you!
If you could give a truly sacrificial gift of $500 or more, your name will be inscribed on a special bookplate and placed in a Book of Blessings that will be presented to a new priest upon his ordination, a book that will travel with him on his journeys as a mission priest.
Thank you and God bless you.
