Volunteer Service Initiative

The purpose of this initiative is to help Catholic campus ministries in your diocese expand the involvement of their students through volunteer service.

Catholic Extension has partnered with Catholic Volunteer Network (CVN) to offer campus ministries an opportunity to select and hire a local Catholic university student to serve in a part-time position for one academic year. The agreement covers 100 percent of the cost of this position.

Students who are active in their campus ministries are poised to become leaders in the Church
Students who are active in their campus ministries are poised to become leaders in the Church.

The hired student will work as a Campus Recruitment Associate (CRA) and focus on inviting students to participate in volunteer service opportunities offered through their campus ministry, their local diocese or a Catholic volunteer program.

Campus ministers will interview and select students in the spring semester, and Catholic Volunteer Network will train these candidates during the summer. In the fall semester, campus ministers will officially hire them to work approximately 10 hours a week and will be responsible for supervising them in their roles.
