Resources for marriage
Resources for marriage
Strong families are the foundation of strong parishes, and, over the years, Catholic Extension has supported family and marriage-enrichment programs through grants to many dioceses that might not have been able to provide them otherwise.

Below is a sampling of these programs. For more information on each one's offerings in your area, consult the individual programs' website. And be sure to look into the U.S.Conference of Catholic Bishops' website www.foryourmarriage.org for more resources.

Marriage Encounter
A weekend experience focussing on revitalizing marriage through improved communication skills. For married couples at any stage of their relationship, not simply for troubled ones.

Engaged Encounter
An offshoot of Marriage Encounter, its weekend prepares couples who are planning to marry. Engaged Encounter information may be found on the same website as Marriage Encounter.

Retrouvaille
Pronounced Re-tro-VIE after the French word for "rediscovery," this program is designed for troubled marriages or for couples already separated who want help. The program consists of a weekend session followed by a series of follow-up sessions over three months.

Beginning Experience
Founded in Fort Worth, Texas, in 1974 by a Catholic sister, this is a weekend experience for anyone dealing with grief, either because of the death of a spouse/parent, divorce or separation.
