On May 26th we celebrate the feast of St. Philip Neri, the patron saint of Catholic Extension.

It is said that Philip Neri wanted to be a foreign missionary, but a holy man interfered by telling him: “Your India shall be Rome.” Bishop Francis Clement Kelley, the founder of Catholic Extension, saw the application of those words in his own work. He decided that Philip would be our patron, and Pope St. Pius X so named him.
